We have two special collections designed just for you: Sneak Bags and Tot Boxes.
Sneak Bags are for our very youngest readers, aged 18-24 months. They include a collection of board books and soft toys on themes such as On the Farm, Potty Time, and We Build. Just like other library materials, they check out for 3 weeks at a time and can be requested through the library catalog.
Tot Boxes are thematic storytimes in a box designed for 2 and 3-year-olds. From Animal Friends to Shapes to Transportation, these include several picture storybooks as well as items such as simple puzzles, puppets and soft toys. Tot Boxes check out for one week (Sunday to Saturday) and can be reserved up to a year in advance. Call us at 785-580-4565 to make your reservation.
Reading Chests have been created with your little learners in mind. With 62 topics ranging from the Circus to Kansas to the Seasons of the year, this storytime-in-a-box includes up to 10 read-alouds and items for your centers such as puzzles, games and imaginative toys. Book Group in a Bag
Are you ready to use literature circles in class or start an after-school book club? Book Groups in a Bag provide you with 10-15 copies of the same book + a discussion guide. Simple and easy. Give us a call at 580-4565 or send an email, and we’ll get you whichever title meets your students’ needs.
Also take a look at the book order option below- it will be a huge time-saver when you suddenly have 10 students who are dying to read about zombies and there are only two books in the school library!
When the holds list for the hottest new book is 40 kids long, it can be challenging to motivate some kids to read. Novelist is a fabulous, easy-to-use tool to help connect kids with other books they might enjoy. Just type in the name of the book, then click on one of the read-alike links to get a list of similar titles. You can also search by topic, browse topical book lists such as Number Sense or Dystopian Fiction, and find discussion questions for picture books under “Picture Book Extenders.”
Book Orders are available to teachers at any time. Give us a call at 785.580.4565 and we’ll gather some checked-in books on the topic of your choice at the appropriate reading level for your students, then place them in the holds pick-up room or send them on a bookmobile or to a smartlocker. You can request up to one book order per week- just give us a week’s notice to gather your items.
