Kid Tested, Librarian Recommended: Navigating change

Learning how to navigate change in the world is a monumental skill we all need. Diving into a good book is a way to learn how characters deal with change like moving to a new place, facing loss, growing up, making a friend, finding a new way to communicate or finding a different way to live. Change is often the spark that sets the story in motion! How the characters respond to change reveals their courage, kindness and growth.  

Kids will enjoy these books because they’re filled with brave characters, exciting adventures and lots of heart. Whether it’s a mouse working with clever rats, a spider saving her pig friend, or a swan trying to trumpet, each book shows that even small acts of courage and kindness can make a big difference. These stories mix laughter, friendship and hope, while showing us what it’s like to face change and keep going. I wonder if you will see a bit of yourself in every character.
