New! More Book Sales in 2018

The Friends of the Library will offer more opportunities to purchase quality used books and media at extremely low prices, by increasing the number of sales and hosting their events at the library. Four large sales will replace the huge annual event formerly held in September at the Kansas Expocentre. The first 2018 sale will be held Jan 19 – 21 in the library’s Marvin Auditorium.

The Friends Board determined that many things will remain the same, including a Friends’ members-only night on Friday, Jan 19 from 5 to 8pm for those who want to get a head start on the sale. Memberships are sold at the door or you can visit this page for more information and download the form. Saturday, Jan 20 the sale is open to the public from 9am to 3pm. Sunday, Jan 21is a bag sale from noon to 3 pm where you may fill a grocery bag (provided) with books and media for $10.

“Quarterly sales give people more opportunities to shop during the year and a more manageable collection to choose from,” said Mary Campbell, Friends of the Library manager. “Holding the sales at the library will also be easier for volunteers. Transferring thousands of books, movies and music to an off-site venue was labor intensive.”

The other 2018 sales will be held March 23-24, July 20-22, and Oct. 19-21. Learn more about the sales.
