Balancing Books

We are excited to have the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center join us every Wednesday for some Discovery with the Library. This week Caitlin brings you Balancing Books.

Materials:
-Books
-Objects to test (cardboard tube, stick, round cylinder object, egg carton, containers)

Directions:
1. Make a hypothesis. Which item will balance the book the easiest?
2. Set the book on one of the items in the center and try to balance the book on the object so it does not touch the table.
a. Make observations about how easy the book is to balance on top of the item.
3. Repeat the previous step for each of the items.
4. Determine which item is easiest to balance the book!
