It is amazing what artists can do with clay, fibers, metals, minerals, glass and wood. The Topeka Competition 33 is on display in the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Nov 10, 2017 – Jan 7, 2018.
The library started the Topeka Competition in 1977 to provide an exhibit venue for three-dimensional craft media, which were not regarded as “high art” in galleries and museums at the time. Today, these media are celebrated as the creative, versatile materials they are–some of the most innovative, exciting works created by artists and craftspeople today.
2017 marks the 40th year of partnership between the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery and the Friends of the Library. We are grateful for their continuous support.
