2018 – On the Wing: 75 Years of the Topeka Audubon Society

Orville Rice, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers

During the 75th anniversary of the Topeka Audubon Society marvel at the group’s impressive history and its contributions to Topeka culture as you view the On the Wing art exhibit in the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery. Admire artwork featuring birds by previous Topeka Audubon Society members Orville Rice and Margaret Whittemore. Both were longtime Topeka residents with interesting histories, and are known for their paintings and illustrations. Rice was president of the Topeka Audubon Society from 1963 – 1965.

Margaret Whittemore, Barn Swallows

This exhibit also features work by John James Audubon, birding books illustrated and written by Rice and Whittemore, and a timeline highlighting Topeka Audubon Society history. The On the Wing: 75 Years of the Topeka Audubon Society exhibit will run July 23 – Sept 30, 2018.
