Caregiver Support Group

Caregiver Elderly Couple It’s impossible to understand the stress and strain being a caregiver can produce until you are put in that position. One of the ways to help alleviate some of that strain is to talk to others who are experiencing the same stress as you. The library, teaming with Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging, is trying to provide an avenue for caregivers to do just that by holding a Caregiver Support Group on the second Monday of each month from 3:30-4:30 in the Anton Room.  Moderated by Michele Dillon, a caregiver support specialist at Jayhawk, these sessions are designed to provide caregivers a chance to talk with others about what they are experiencing, help them feel supported, and let them know that they aren’t alone. We encourage any and all caregivers to join us as your schedule permits.

I'm the Red Carpet Librarian and work to bring lifelong support services to the Topeka and Shawnee County area through outreach and programming. I also am a sports enthusiast, work closely with the library's sports collection, and provide programming to engage the community's sports fans.
