Dr. Drab's Lab: Art Exhibit for Children
Help us rescue the paint colors from Dr. Drab's Lab May 31 - Aug 24, 2025, during this interactive art exhibit for children in the library's Alice C. Sabatini Gallery. Dr. Drab, a scientist turned artist, has stolen all the paint colors in the world! Each week in the gallery we will work together to get all the paint colors back.
In this fun art exhibit, you can play in our interactive cityscape and watch throughout the summer as the gallery goes from Drab to fab. Explore Dr. Drab’s laboratory and assist her in her color experiments to learn what makes each color vital in art.
Discover hands-on activities throughout the gallery! Try making fence art. Find your way through our tire maze. Play in our immersive color wall.
The exhibit will feature art from the library's collection that showcases how artists consider colors. Artists select materials and composition as ways to convey emotions and a sense of story. Notable pieces in the display include a ring made from cinnabar, an early source of red pigment, and artworks created by well-known artists such as Piet Mondrian.
