New Addition in the Topeka Room

Come by and see our New Addition – the newest ScanPro 3000 Microfilm Reader/Scanner! The ScanPro 3000 is designed with the best that technology has to offer in microfilm viewing and image retrieval. It can read and select text (OCR) or find keywords. It can scan multiple pages into a PDF document, select different articles from the screen. You can use it to enhance and save images, print, save to disk or email and much more!

Our complete Topeka newspaper collection is now easier than ever to view and scan. Use it to review Topeka’s local history. Find obituaries, and learn more about your family history and genealogy in the Baker Genealogy Center. Within a couple of minutes you can view any article and retrieve information with the click of a few on-screen buttons. It’s simple, fast, and fun!

Come visit us in the Topeka Room on the second floor of the Library to see the latest in technology at work!

Being the Genealogy Librarian at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is so much fun! As a veteran genealogist, I love teaching and sharing digital family history and genealogy techniques and helping people solve genealogy problems. My work is to promote a greater knowledge of family heritage.
