Get extreme and do the 2011 Wrestlemania Reading Challenge!
Here’s how the challenge works:
- Teens in grades five through twelve sign up for the program by picking up a pledge sheet from the YS desk, Edge desk or the display in David J’s.
- Read five books, graphic novels, or magazines between October 25 and November 1 and fill out the log.
- Turn in a completed pledge log to the Youth Services Desk and receive a WWE mini-poster and a form for Part 2 of the reading program. The first 12 teens to complete the challenge also get a Wrestlemania pin and certificate.
- For Part 2, the 5th and 6th graders design a bookmark which includes a slogan that promotes reading, and 7th through 12th graders will choose a wrestler to write a letter to that convinces him/her to read the teens’ favorite book.
TSCPL staff will choose the best bookmark/letter submitted from each age group—grade 5-6, 7-8 and 9-12. A panel of national judges will choose 21 finalists, seven from each grade category and representing different regions of the country. The 21 finalists win a trip to WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami. The finalists will go on to compete for the title of WrestleMania Reading Challenge World Champion by answering questions about books.
