New Café Operator, Same Great Food

You may have noticed a few new faces in the Millennium Café in 2020. However, you can still find your favorite treats and most of the same smiling faces. Doug Petrie, who operated the Café since its opening in 2001, retired at the end of 2019. Engroff Catering was selected to take over operations in 2020. Engroff Catering maintained all the previous Café staff as well as the recipes and quality patrons have come to expect.

“The Library Foundation and Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library Board of Trustees greatly appreciate all that Café operator Doug Petrie has done to help make the library a popular destination for the whole community,” said Library Board of Trustees Chair Liz Post. “Doug Petrie leaves a legacy of good service, good food and good will.”

About Engroff Catering

Engroff Catering has been a family owned and operated company since 1981, with current owner Jeff Engroff overseeing operations after the company was started by his father and uncle. We strive for quality, consistency, and an attitude of ‘We CAN Do It’ with our staff to complete any event.

“Our staff has employed all current Millennium Café personnel, so the transition should be seamless,” said General Manager of Operations for Engroff Catering Rosie Newman. “We greatly appreciate Doug Petrie for all of his hard work and leadership within the past years.”
