Your home, your style

You are looking around, analyzing the look and feel of your home.  There is much about your décor that you like, but something just isn’t right, something is missing.  What you discover is it’s you that’s missing.  Nothing in your décor reflects what you like, what is important to you, or what your interests are.  What to do?  The Home Neighborhood, at Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library has many resources to help you design a space that reflects the person you are.
A great place to begin is with Meghan Carter’s book, The Meghan Method:  the Step-by-Step Guide to Decorating Your Home in Your Style.   Carter believes that everyone is their own best designer and with her book can custom design their space like a professional.  Her book distills interior design to the basics and creates a step-by-step formula that anyone on any budget can utilize.  Carter promises that as you work through her book you will have the know-how to do all sorts of things including:
•    Draw flawless floor plans.
•    Mix patterns, incorporate textures & create perfect color schemes.
•    Stay on budget and still get the room of your dreams.
•    Score the best deals and find those one-of-a-kind, show-stopping items.
•    Choose furniture, add accessories and select lighting.
•    Hire professionals and tackle DIY projects.
This book and along with many other books, DVDs, and magazines are waiting for you @ your library®

I am a Public Services Specialist working in reference and media. Additionally, I am involved with the library’s Book Groups in a Bag, a collection that is dear to my heart. Not surprisingly, I like to read, especially historical mysteries. I love to travel, and I have a very long list of places I want to visit.
