The popularity and prevalence of small chicken flocks in urban neighborhoods has skyrocketed in the past five years.  Maybe you’ve been tempted to jump on the trend and benefit from the fresh eggs and animal companionship chickens provide.  But do you really have what it takes to be the manager of a city flock?

Find out at the Backyard Chickens 101 program at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library on Wednesday, March 26th.  The presentation begins at 7:00 pm in Marvin Auditorium 101A.

During the program you’ll learn about Topeka city ordinances and review some of the nitty-gritty truths of living with chickens.  Basic information such as acquiring a flock, obtaining supplies, dealing with roosters and managing predators and illness will be covered.
