Decorate Your House for the Fall

Now that summer is over, it's time to start decorating our homes for the fall. Here are a few simple steps that will transform your house.

1. Create a warm welcome by decorating your front porch and front door. Add pumpkins, a fall wreath, planters filled with mums, amd even a fall door mat.

2. Add some fall accents to your entry table. Try clipping fall branches or bittersweet and adding them to a large vase. You can group fall gourds or fall fruit in a basket or on a large wooden tray.

3. Decorate the top of your dining table with a fall table runner, candles, and seasonal flowers. Use a hollowed out pumpkin for a vase for fresh flowers. (Be sure to coat the inside of the pumpkin with petroleum jelly to preserve it and keep it from breaking down quickly. Also, place the flowers in a glass vase inside the pumpkin.)

4. Accessorize your home with fall colors. Place orange or rust colored pillows on your couch, bring out a favorite throw, or add a vase of sunflowers to a side table.
