New Ebook Service Is Here!

Take books with you wherever you go, courtesy of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. New and popular ebooks and digital audiobooks are available for your smart phone or ereader right now, free from your library!

The library offers ebooks and audiobooks via the OverDrive ebook service. Try it here.

For future reference, the link can be found in this website’s navigation under Find Stuff> eBooks & Audiobooks (OverDrive)

We purchase new and popular ebooks and downloadable digital audiobooks, and try to add new titles each week. However, there are a variety of reasons why the Library may not own an ebook or digital audibook, which we discuss in this blog post.

OverDrive is compatible with Nooks, Kindle, Sony eReaders, Blackberry, PC, Android and Apple products.  (see list of compatible devices here) Get help downloading ebooks and digital audiobooks with the handouts found on this page or set up an individual reference appointment here.

  1. Hi there,
I just purchased an Nook E-reader as a Christmas gift. Is it possible to check books out from the library througth the Nook E-reader? Are there step by step instructions to do this?
    Thank you,
    Tarin Wray

  2. I’m trying to decide between a Nook, Kindle, or iPad. Can a librarian help me figure out which would be the best bet for my needs?
