7 Free Fun Events for Grown-Ups in July
Even if you don't get summers off work, you can squeeze in summer fun at your library. Here are the most anticipated free events for grown-ups in July.
Sun, July 5 | Story Games
Have storytelling fun with the narrative games "Once Upon a Time" - collaborative storytelling card game & "Fiasco" - players engineer & play out disastrous situations. Play 5:30-8:30pm in Marvin AB. Not registration needed for this event.
Fri, July 10 | Human Foosball
Get in the soccer spirit with its cousin, foosball! You will become part of a giant foosball table for a fun spin on the game. Show off your soccer skills & meet new friends! For grown-ups only. Play starts at 7pm in Marvin Auditorium.
Sun, July 12 | Music for a Sunday Afternoon
Sean Gaskell will present and play the kora - a 21 stringed West African harp. Sean will demonstrate the instrument as well as talk about the history and culture of West African music starting at 3pm in Marvin Auditorium. Check out tunes featuring the kora. Not registration needed for this event.
Fri, July 17 | Make Dinosaur Bath Bombs
Create and customize your own bath experience. Make some new relaxing, fun items and meet new friends! For grown-ups only. Start creating at 7pm in the library's Learning Center.
Mon, July 20 | Historic Downtown Topeka Walking Tour
Walk back in time through downtown Topeka. Local history librarian, Katie Keckeisen, will show you amazing historic buildings. We'll also look at historic photos of what the area looked like before. The walking tour will begin at Evergy Plaza and the route will be approximately 2 miles. Tour begins at 6pm at Evergy Plaza in downtown Topeka.
Sat, July 25 | Library Trivia: Afternoon Edition
Enter as a team of 5-8 people working together to answer 100 questions from 10 categories. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams! If you don't have a team, we generally have space for individuals or pairs to join a team that day. The game begins at 3pm in Marvin Auditorium.
Fri, July 31 | Murder Mystery Night
Help solve a murder set in an archaeology museum! Two groups of 20 will become various characters in a night of whodunnit fun. For grown-ups only, solve the mystery and meet new friends. We'll meet in Marvin BC to discover our characters.
