Educational Scholarships

The Friends offers educational scholarships awarded to library staff working toward their masters degree in library and information science.

Our 2018 scholarship recipient was Adrienne Sanders, cataloging and metadata librarian, who is working on her Masters of Library Science degree from Emporia State University. She was awarded $1,000.

In-Kind Donations

  • Books – The Friends of the Library offers donated books to use for library programs (e.g. Stop, Drop & Read; Read Between the Lines and Altered Books). The Friends also provide books to library partners (Topeka Metro’s Read While You Ride initiative).
  • Gift certificates to the Chandler Booktique – The Friends also donate gift certificates as prizes for library programs (e.g. Trivia Night, Read Between the Lines, Edible Books), as well as  given as thank you’s for performers.
