In honor of Women’s History Month, Miranda and special guest, Michelle Morris, discuss warrior women. One of the authors they discuss for her portrayals of strong women is Kate Quinn. She writes about spies, code-breakers and women pilots. Many of her characters are combinations of real women.
Through research and personal reading, we’ve found science fiction and fantasy are plentiful with strong, warrior women. Miranda and Michelle highlight the characters in Station 11, the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, and the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, which is Michelle’s favorite.
Some of these books are available in graphic novels, which is another genre rife with warrior women! Their top picks for graphic novels with warrior women are Fables, Monstrous, and Saga. Ask Miranda about any of those three because she’s been rereading them.
