It's time to talk about A Burning by Megha Majumdar! Autumn was unavailable for this episode so fan-favorite Michelle Morris is joining us for this discussion.

One of the reasons A Burning is getting attention is because with assistance of the National Book Foundation, author Megha Majumdar is visiting the library April 21, 2022, 7pm (mark your calendar)!

The book takes place in India and follows three protagonists. Each character makes complex decisions that have big consequences. Although the book is a quick read, it's got some very heavy plot points and an intense cultural clash. The hosts all admit to looking up several cultural references throughout their reading. Although they understood most things without knowing the whole spectrum of politics and cultural classes in India.

Readalikes

Michelle got Kate Quinn vibes from the book. Chris specifically named The Fortune Men and Infinite Country when talking about A Burning. Miranda said culturally the book reminded her of some of the writing in Stamped From the Beginning and The Round House.
