Let's discuss Sparks' romances!
Are you a fan of Nicholas Sparks - books or movies or both?
He's not an author I follow very closely, mostly because his stories are real tearjerkers. It's been almost 20 years since I listened to The Notebook (published in '96), and I still have a very clear memory of where and what I was doing when old Allie remembers she's the young Allie in Duke's story. I was road tripping and I bawled like a baby - it was ridiculously awful!
Books are being adapted into movies all the time, but I think Sparks is the current reigning king of the mountain for number of books by one (living) author. He's got 11 writing novel credits on IMDB! When a new movie comes out I wonder about his process. The turn around from book to movie is so seamless. It's almost like he writes the movie and then the book.
These days, I watch a Sparks movie with a little trepidation because of the tearjerker affect. I ranked them from my personal faves (1-7) to the didn't-bother (8-11).
