Parking lot improvements

parking lot construction mapThe library will begin parking lot construction on Mon, Aug 4. Improvements will include resurfacing, replacing concrete and increasing drainage. While the parking lot will remain open throughout all phases of construction, areas of the lot and entrances will be temporarily closed.

Sunflower Paving has outlined four phases of construction. Phase one, which will begin on Aug 4, will replace the concrete drive on the east side of the parking lot. During this phase the Washburn Ave. and 11th St. entrances/exits to the lot will be closed. The Garfield Ave entrance/exit will be the only option during this phase that is expected to last three weeks.

"We appreciate visitors' patience as we work to improve the parking lot," said Thad Hartman, library Chief of Staff. "These improvements will resolve several parking lot issues and prevent future problems. Our goal is to have the project complete in October well before winter weather begins."

During phase two of the project Sunflower will resurface the west drive closing the Garfield entrance/exit and opening the other two entrance/exits. In phase three they will resurface the east parking lot and phase four Sunflower will resurface the west lot. Signs will clearly identify which areas of the lot are closed.
