Get ready, family researchers! Your library is offering another way for you to connect with your family roots. American Ancestors Online*, by New England Historic and Genealogical Society, is a repository for more than 400 million searchable names covering New England, New York, and beyond.
It provides access to the New England Historical and Genealogical Register and American Ancestors magazine, databases, and more than 200,000 published genealogies, biographies, local histories, vital records, maps, and other printed materials.
Your Genealogy Librarian, Sherri Camp, is excited about what access to this database means for family researchers in Topeka. "The New England Historic and Genealogical Society is one of the most important research archives for New England research," she said. "It was the first genealogy society in the United States and houses records of more than 100 million names online. That’s presently more than any other genealogical society!"
The New England Historic and Genealogical Society has two scholarly journals, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register and The American Genealogist. Other publications include The Register, and The Great Migration Newsletter. All of these provide lots of genealogical data to help genealogist gain insights into their ancestral research.
