Meet Our Teen Curators, Anna & Erika

Meet two of the teens behind the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery's pilot program, Curate This! and their debut art exhibit, The Good, The Bed & The Ugly.

Anna and Erika, along with other area high school students, spent the past several months working with Betsy Roe, our new-ish Associate Curator and Educator to put together an art exhibit, in conjunction with our Annual Art Exhibit for Children, from start to finish.

The students began by picking a theme to match the Library's Summer Reading focus, which is "Dream Big", and decided to choose artwork from the Library's permanent collection that would best represent dream symbolism.

For example, if you dream of a frog, that might mean you'll be having a surprising change in your life, so the students selected Frank Fleming's "Living Frog Chair" (porcelain; 1992.35).

In their own words, these first-time curators share their stories below.
