Get to Know Interesting People

Picture book biographies are approachable true tales about interesting people and events, often told in a narrative voice with vivid illustrations. Reading these stories is a wonderful way to learn about history and the people who made changes. Here are some titles to get  you started!

The Crayon Man: The True Story of the Invention of Crayola Crayons written by Natascha Biebow & illustrated by Steven Salerno

It highlights the inspiration Edwin Binney took from the colors of nature to make his crayons. The illustrations are wonderful and change from grays to colors as Edwin progresses in his process. Kids know Crayola so this is a great story to share.
