DIY Digital Storytime: Nature

Winter is finally coming to an end, daylight savings time is here, and the kids are itching to get outside and run around, climb trees, ride bikes.  Encourage your kids to get outside and explore with this nature-inspired storytime.

Today we're using both Bookflix and Tumblebooks for our Digital Storytime.  You can get to both resources from the Kids Library webpage, then log in with your library card.

This Week’s Theme: Nature

In All the World, observe a group of family and friends from morning till night as they explore things great and small in our world, from tiny shells on the beach, to gardens and orchards, to the clouds in the sky. Before you read, introduce your kids to the word of the day: hive – a nest for bees.  You can find All the World in the Family and Community category of Bookflix, or if you've already logged in, just click on the book cover above to get to the story.

Follow up the poetic story with this non-fiction reader, Energy Is Everywhere, which tells about the different types of energy and the places you may find it every day.

When you're finished, watch this 2-minute video on Tumblebooks to get ready for some cloud watching.  It may be helpful to teach your kids the word precipitation -- water that falls to the ground as rain, snow, sleet, or hail -- before you watch the video.
