Digital Movies and TV Shows Now Available

hoopla main screenYour library card now gives you access to thousands of digital movies and television programs, at no cost using Hoopla Digital! Whether you’re looking for a box office hit or a classic, there is sure to be something you’ll enjoy again and again.

Using this new service, you can download audiobooks and music albums too. Hoopla Digital is the newest addition to our digital content services, providing instant access to digital video and audio on your computer or select devices!

Hoopla lets you borrow up to 10 items per month and stream that content on your computer through your browser or get the Hoopla Digital App and download content to your smart phone or other device.

Even better, all content is simultaneous use, which means all content is always available, no need to place holds ever! Also, the item will disappear from your account after the checkout period, so there is no chance for fines or fees!

Movies are currently limited to items with an MPAA rating of PG-13.  Hoopla does not allow us to limit access, allowing children under 17 to checkout R rated materials. Therefore until we get that functionality we are limiting to PG-13. The company is working on filtering by customer age, so this restriction should be temporary.

What Works with Hoopla?

hoopla deviceHoopla allows you to watch or listen to content using your computer's browser. This process is called "streaming" and requires a constant online connection while viewing or listening to the content. At this time, you cannot download Hoopla's content to your computer.

You can also download content to your smartphone or devices using the Hoopla Digital app. The Hoopla app is supported by iOS devices that run iOS 6 and compatible with devices that support Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and above. You can download the app from either the Apple App Store here or the Android Google Play store here.

Using Hoopla

Hoopla is extremely easy to use.

Simply go to the library’s Hoopla Digital’s page and sign up using your library card and PIN (usually the last four digits of your telephone number.)

Once you have registered, browse or search for content. To borrow an item, click on the items image and then click or tap Borrow. Then click or tap Play to listen or view the item on your computer. If you are using the Hoopla App on an iOS or Android device, you can also tap Download to download it to your device.

Be sure and tell us what you think of this new service and enjoy!
