Weddings and holidays

There is a reason there are so many movies, books, and television shows filled with holiday romance and weddings. This time of year not only brings out the best in others, but the festive atmosphere and decorations are incredibly attractive for those wishing to make that lifelong commitment to each other. What better time is there to celebrate surrounded by your friends and family?

For many people a holiday wedding can be more of a nuisance than a joyous occasion. Getting time off work or traveling long distances can cost them time and money that are in short supply during the holidays. Here are some tips for holiday weddings:

  • Make sure to send out save the dates super early. With all the travel plans and holiday parties, you'll want to make sure your guests have plenty of time to figure out their schedules.
  • Decorate for the wedding, not for the holiday. Embrace the season by trying to use color palettes and decorations with subtle nods to the holidays. You want your guests to feel like they're attending your wedding, not just any other holiday party.
  • Holiday music can be fun and occasionally romantic, but try not to use it at the reception. Again, this isn't just any party!

Whether or not you decide to have a  wedding around the holidays, it is important to remember that your friends and family love you and want to see you. Perhaps you're traveling this holiday season for a wedding yourself, or just want to bask in some holiday romance with books or movies.
