Winter, Your New Favorite Season!

Sometimes I have a hard time being ready for winter.  When I feel the winter blues coming on, I know it's time to get out of the house and enjoy the beauty and FUN this season can bring. What does your holiday season look like for this winter?  Whether your weekends are booked, or you are looking for a little extra holiday cheer, here are some things to do out and about this season.

View dazzling holiday light displays, featuring one million lights, while winding through a scenic drive at Lake Shawnee.  This is the 16th year for Winter Wonderland and all proceeds go to support TARC.

Event runs nightly starting towards the end of November through December and is open from 6-10 pm.  It is $10 per vehicle.

Annual Festival of Trees

Enjoy one-of-a-kind decorated holiday trees, homemade baked goods, entertainment, a craft boutique and more at the Kansas Expocentre the first weekend in December.  Proceeds go to Sheltered Living.Christmas_tree_sxc_hu

Ice Skating

Unbeknonst to many Topekans, the Kansas Expocentre offers ice skating before and after certain hockey games. The southeast entrance to Landon Arena opens 30 minutes before each session.  Admission is $7 and skate rental is $3. Each session runs two hours, including a 10 minute intermission for ice resurfacing.
