The Black Hour The Black Hour

Shooting on campus in The Black Hour

The Black HourSociology Professor Amelia Emmet has just returned battered and barely recovered to college where she had been shot by a student. The walls were repainted and the carpeting replaced, but her mind could not forget or understand the shooting since she hadn’t known the student and doesn’t know why he shot her.

On the day of Amelia’s return she is surprised by student Nathaniel Barber who waited for her at her office. He wants to be Professor Emmet’s graduate assistant, and secretly he has decided his dissertation will be on the attack on Amelia and has already begun his research.

They both want to understand why Amelia was shot but their journey to discovering the truth goes beyond the student shooter and into a messy web that could entangle them both and destroy them. The Black Hour with its psychological tension is a mystery with both plot and character development and is a promising debut of author Lori Rader-Day.
