Sara and Gerald Murphy were a real couple whose home was called the Villa America, which became a stopping place for F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Cole Porter, and including other celebrities of the time. Villa America is a fiction novel based on the Murphy’s marriage and relationships and is written by Liza Klaussmann also the author of Tigers in Red Weather.

Sara and Gerald inherited fortunes that allowed them to leave the states and set up house on the French Riviera with their three children. They seemed to be the perfect couple despite the drama of their artistic friends, but their lives would change after meeting the pilot Owen Chambers. This novel uses narrative and letters to weave a story that is both loving and haunting as Sara and Gerald struggle with a secret that could destroy them.
