Porcupine and Cactus written by Katie Frawley & illustrated by Alex Willmore
On a long and lonely desert walk, a chatty and outgoing Porcupine discovers a quiet Cactus and couldn’t be happier. These two spiky specimens are sure to have tons in common! But when Porcupine tries to get to know his new pal, Cactus doesn’t say a word. This is delightfully funny with wonderful illustrations.
"Sometimes the best friend is the one who’s willing to listen. . . Bright, funny, cartoonish illustrations complement the bubbly text as the porcupine enjoys a picnic with the unresponsive cactus, performs magic tricks, and chats on, oblivious . . . Children will delight in the realization that they know more about the cactus than the porcupine does and will laugh out loud at the misunderstandings that ensue. A silly, entertaining tale of a very prickly friendship." –Kirkus
Duck Duck Taco Truck written by Laura Lavoie & illustrated by Teresa Martinez
Dive into this very fun rhyming tale about pushing through obstacles and emotions in competitive situations to achieve an ideal collaborative (and creative) outcome. It will also have you craving some good food. The rhyming text is so much fun you'll want to read it again and again. The pictures are as lively and vibrant as the text, and the punchline at the end is picture book perfection! This is the type of book that makes even the most reluctant kids want to read.
"A tasty treat that encourages everyone to forgive and lend a wing."—Kirkus
Something Stinks by Jonathan Fenske
You need to read it to find out what stinks! In this super silly picture book, an awful stink is invading the nostrils of its furry protagonist, a clueless skunk. Skunk is ready to sniff out the source of the stench, but where could it be coming from? Find out in this foul-smelling story – just be sure to hold your nose!
The Good for Nothing Button by Charise Mericle Harper
This is a beginning reader and an "Elephant and Piggie like Reading" book! Red Bird and Blue Bird are excited to try the button. When they press it, they discover the button makes them happy. Happy is something! A flabbergasted Yellow Bird insists the button does nothing. But it sure does seem to be making him mad. Mad is something! I have used this book several times for Storytime and laughter is the common response. 🙂
"Harper's hilarious entry in the series will press readers' buttons as they encounter three birds who experience surprise, sadness, happiness, anger, and more." –School Library Journal
