Robot Puppet

Beep Beep Boop ... Calling all Robot Fans! It's time to make a robot puppet.

Supplies

  • Copy of template
  • Thin cardboard box like a cereal or cracker box
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Colored pencils, crayons or markers
  • String, yarn or wire: 3 pieces 5 inches long and 1 piece 15 inches long
  • 4 Paper brads/paper fasteners

Directions

Step 1

Glue the template to the thin cardboard.

Step 2

When the glue is dry, color your robot parts with with crayons, colored pencils or markers

Step 3

Cut out all the individual robot pieces.

Step 4

Carefully make holes as marked on the template. You will need 4 in body, 2 in each arm and leg, and one at the top of the head.

Step 5

Thread one 5 inch piece of yarn through the small holes in the arms. leaving the thread untied. Repeat this process with the legs.

Step 6

Use the brads to attach the arms and legs to body. Make sure to leave the brad connections loose so arms and legs can swing freely.

Step 7

With the legs pointed straight down, tie the leg string into loop. Repeat this step with the arms pointed straight down at the sides.

Step 8

Tie one end of the 15 inch long piece of string around the  loop between the arms and then the legs.

Now thread the last piece of 5 inch yarn through the hole at the top of the head and tie the ends together, making a long loop.

Step 9

To make your robot move, hold onto the loop at its head and pull string at bottom of the robot.
