What you'll find in the Level 2 Tech Center

The Level 2 Tech Center is a space for technology, creativity, and hands-on learning. Whether you need a computer, a room for audio or visual recording, a place to print documents, software to edit photos and create graphics, or an opportunity to try something new, you'll find the tools and support to get started. Explore the center's available resources:

CoLab rooms - Five small meeting rooms for up to 3 people with a conference table, chairs, 42″ monitor, webcam, speakers and software.
Learning Opportunites - Gadget Help workshops for one-on-one help, tech guidance, and online computer classes.
Digital Arts Studio:
- Three Macs and two PCs with Adobe Creative Suite
- Two Cricuts - Cricut Explore 3 and Cricut Venture (large format)
- Two 3D printers - Bambu P1s
- Laminator
- Large Format Printer
Memory Lab - hardware and software to convert the following analog media into digital files:
- Audio cassette tapes
- VHS tapes
- Vinyl records
- Photos and documents
Recording Studios - fully equipped audio and video recording studios.

Get Started reserving or using the specialized equipment: Recording Studios, Memory Lab, Cricut, 3D Printers, Macs or PCs in the Digital Arts Studio:

STEP 1

Get a Library Card

Visit the front desk or register online to get a library card. Already have one? You're one step closer.

STEP 2

Complete Online Orientation

Take an online equipment/room orientation class. Required to use the equipment/rooms.

STEP 3

Start Learning/Creating

Reserve a room or equipment to begin your journey in creating something.

Training and a valid library card is required before reserving or using the specialized equipment in the Level 2 Tech Center. To save your work, please bring a high-capacity flash drive, an external hard drive or your cloud login details. Local files are wiped at the end of every session.

Logistics

Located on the 2nd floor of the library, west of the Topeka Room.
Orientation is required before using equipment in Digital Art Studio and recording studios.
You may reserve the 3D printer, Cricut, and Memory Lab PC for up to 5 hours per day.
There is a $2 charge per 3D print session. We do not charge for failed prints.
We will not install any new programs or applications on our computers.
No outside paper can be used for printing or copying.

We have other items available at the desk that don’t require checkout—such as USB charging cables, assorted mic stands, paper cutters, office equipment such as staplers and hole punches.

Youth/Rules in the Tech Center

The Level 2 Tech Center is a place for those seeking to work, create and design using the digital tools available.

Because of the tools, please be aware of the following guidelines for youth:

Adults and children age 12 and older can use the Level 2 Tech Center independently. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult who is certified to use the equipment.

Other Rules:

Training and a valid library card is required before reserving or using the specialized equipment in the Level 2 Tech Center.
Only screw-top and lidded drinks in the space. Food is not allowed.
