Tall grandfather clock
ca. 1800s
Tall case clock, brass and steel ornate face. Gold face, Big Ben chimes, once used in the Mulvane Library for Boys and Girls. This clock, ordered from Tiffany's in Chicago, was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Joab Mulvane by their children, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary in 1908. The mahogany cased clock has a brass face and "Big Ben" chimes that sound the quarter hour, half hour and hour. This lovely timepiece was presented to the Mulvane Library for Boys and Girls by Harriosn S. Morgan, a son-in-law of the Mulvane family, in 1943. The David Mulvane home was given to the Free Public Library in 1933 and was used as the Mulvane Library for Boys and Girls from 1939 until it was sold to the state in 1959. The house was subsequently razed to provide space for a parking lot adjacent to the Supreme Court building. On display in the Topeka Room.
