Library Senior Associate (Community Services)

Come be a part of the library Community Services (Bookmobile) team by providing library materials and information to the public through bookmobile and delivery services.

JOB DUTIES: Provides library materials to customers across Topeka and Shawnee County by safely operating library vehicles such as bookmobiles, cars, trucks, and vans. Assists patrons inquiring about community information services, periodicals, databases, files, inter-library loans and other information. Sets up and maintains daily off-site bookmobile locations. Delivers materials to community partners and customer homes as needed.

REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent and one year of customer service experience is required. Multi-lingual fluency is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license with insurable driving record. Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within the first six months of hire. This position requires bending, lifting 50 pounds, pushing materials weighing up to 100 pounds, reaching, the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, ability to operate standard office equipment, bookmobile with generator, vans, cars, and trucks, wheelchair lift and stationary work at a computer. Height limitation due to low ceilings is 6 feet 4 inches. A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.

SCHEDULE: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday with one evening per week and approximately one Saturday per month.

PAY & BENEFITS: Starting pay $14.13 per hour. Excellent benefits including health & dental insurance with pre-tax premiums, and a retirement plan (KPERS). Group life, disability coverage and accidental death benefits are also provided. Other optional benefits available at employee’s expense include vision, life and cancer insurance and a deferred compensation plan.
