Friends of the Library – Chandler Booktique Manager

The Friends of the Library has an opening for a part-time Manager for the Chandler Booktique. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Review of applications will begin immediately.

POSITION: Chandler Booktique Manager. Part-time, 30 hours per week including weekends.

DUTIES: Organize and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Friends of the Library Chandler Booktique. Train and supervise volunteers. Maintain gift inventory including purchasing and book inventory. Also includes visual merchandising including display windows.  Make pricing decisions on gift items and donated items including books. Plan promotional sales.  Make bank deposits and prepare financial reports and process invoices for payment. Must spend time working in the shop.

REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Applicants should possess strong retail sales experience and be knowledgeable about authors, books, and videos. Three years responsible management experience required.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with customers, volunteers, colleagues and supervisors is required. This position requires manual dexterity, bending, lifting/carrying at least 50 pounds, pushing/pulling materials weighing at least 25 pounds, reaching, and the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone and stationary work at a computer terminal.

A pre-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.

COMPENSATION: $16.50 per hour. This position is an employee of the Friends of the Library and does not receive TSCPL library benefits.
