Facilities (Maintenance) Associate

Come be a part of the library maintenance team by providing facilities maintenance services across the library.

JOB DUTIES: Performs general repairs and maintenance for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and related trade work. Operates, maintains and repairs HVAC equipment and systems including computerized environmental control systems. Operates library vehicles to pick up returned library materials from city and county book drops and deliver items to places designated by the library such as, library at work sites, home delivery and smart lockers. Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on Library buildings and equipment such as pumps, air handling equipment, humidifiers, air compressors, electrical distribution and lighting, vehicles, irrigation systems, custodial equipment and similar items. Maintains, repairs and installs door hardware, locks, cabinetry and millwork, shelving and related installed fixtures. Performs maintenance and repair of interior and exterior finished surfaces.

REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Requires a minimum of two years of experience in building/equipment maintenance. Must have a valid driver’s license with insurable driving record. Trade school training in a related field, computerized control software operations experience and experience in the operation and maintenance of automated material handling systems/equipment are preferred. This position requires bending, lifting/carrying 50 pounds, ability to exert 40 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, basic computer knowledge and stationary work at a computer terminal. A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and a physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.

SCHEDULE:
Tuesday – Saturday 7:00am to 4:00pm. Sunday and Monday off.

PAY & BENEFITS: Starting pay $15.26 per hour. Excellent benefits including health & dental insurance with pre-tax premiums, and a retirement plan (KPERS). Other optional benefits available at employee’s expense include vision, life and cancer insurance and a deferred compensation plan.
