Drop Everything And Read with Us April 12

Visitors to the library Thursday will see an unusually large number of people with their noses in a book. Our librarians will be reading at the desks in recognition of National Drop Everything and Read Day. Please feel free to ask for assistance from them, even if they look like they can’t be interrupted,

This day was originally created to encourage families to make time to read for pleasure at home. Most of the books you’ll see staff reading today would make great storytimes for your young children.

We’re also hosting a special Storytime with Betty Jean from 3:30–4:00pm in the Story Zone. Bring the kids for a rousing rendition of a beloved Beverly Cleary story.

And to cap off Drop Everything And Read day, we’re holding a special event around 4:15pm. Staff has a little surprise for you on the main floor. But you’ll have to wait and see.

Learn more about reading as a family pastime online or make an appointment with one of our librarians. Ask a librarian to find age-appropriate titles for the whole family or on tips on how to integrate reading for pleasure in family activities. Or for great kids books, check out these posts below:
