Online Technology Education Available

Learn new technology skills or improve your existing ones with Treehouse, an online education service that provides you with the tools needed to create websites, build smartphone apps, or learn advanced computer techniques.

This new library resource offers a wide range of competitive, in-demand technology skills that will help you land your next dream job or build your start-up idea.

Treehouse is a series of more than 1,000 video tutorials with hundreds of practical exercises, quizzes, and code challenges. The Treehouse courses are designed for beginners and advanced users, allowing anyone to start learning the latest technology.

Pick and choose from individual lessons or go through a structured course, called Learning Adventures, such as Become a Web Developer, Start a Business, or Learn WordPress.

Another cool feature allows users to earn badges as they complete courses. Each badge represents a learned skill, and many companies are starting to recognize these badges when applying for jobs. Treehouse also offers a members-only forum which allows you ask questions, get answers and connect with other Treehouse users.

The links to Sign Up or Log In can be found under the Research tab under both Databases — Complete List and Databases by Subject sections. In the subject page, Treehouse is under Education & School Resources.

Some courses will require you to download software that we will not have on library computers.

Jeff Tate is the Digital Branch Librarian. He can help with your ebook and digital audiobook questions and ereader, smart phones, iPads, or other gadget issues, In addition, he can assist with general research questions, library database assistance, and almost anything else you find on our Digital Branch. He also trains, markets, and develops content for the Library's website, ebooks, databases, social media, and other online services. Besides his MLS, he has degrees in American History and American Studies.
