We’re Hiring: Library Senior Associate, Bookmobile

DUTIES: Safely operate library vehicles such as bookmobiles, trucks and vans.  Assist bookmobile staff in providing book selections and taking requests. File and perform data entry tasks that relate to the status of bookmobile materials such as file, shelve books, and check out/check in of materials. Assist and support the Bookmobile staff in programming and implementation of tasks. Position is full time including some evening and weekend hours.

REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or equivalent; previous library experience is preferred; ability to perform detailed work with accuracy and competent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite software applications and Internet searching techniques.  Knowledge of books and City/County streets, ability to drive at night is required.

This medium work position requires a valid Kansas Commercial Driver License with an insurable driving record. Manual dexterity, bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, ability to exert 40 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, basic computer knowledge and stationary work at a computer terminal.  Height limitation due to low ceilings is 6ft 4 in. Previous experience in customer service is preferred.  A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and a physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.  Maintaining an insurable driving record is a condition of employment. Candidates who do not possess a Commercial driver license at the time of hire must obtain one within 90 days of start date.

PAY & BENEFITS:  $11.53 per hour. TSCPL benefits include Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, dental insurance, cafeteria plan, vacation and sick leave, and KPERS retirement. Group life, disability coverage and accidental death benefits are provided Other optional benefits available at employee’s expense include life and cancer insurance and a deferred compensation plan.
