DUTIES: Safely operate library vehicles such as bookmobiles, trucks and vans. Provide information and materials to the public including assistance in locating library materials, information and use of equipment. Present programs in a variety of formats in elementary classrooms and other venues. Plan and execute displays, compile information for bibliographies and other programming. Create content for Digital Branch. Assist patrons inquiring about Community Information Services, periodicals, databases, files, interlibrary loans and other information. Assemble and compute statistical information essential to department. Recommend materials for collection development. Assist in the care of animals used in programs.
REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and customer service experience. Desired qualifications include previous Library experience and experience working with children’s activities or programs. A valid Commercial driver license with insurable driving record is required (must be obtained within 90 days of date of hire) along with the ability to safely operate the library’s vans, trucks, and bookmobiles in all weather conditions and at night. Knowledge of City/County streets is helpful. This medium work position requires bending, lifting/carrying at least 20 pounds, ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, basic computer knowledge and stationary work at a computer terminal. A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and a physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Pay range starts at $15.35 per hour. Position is full time including day, evening and weekend hours. Excellent benefits include health/dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, retirement plan, cafeteria plan, group life, disability coverage and accidental death benefits. Other optional benefits available at employee’s expense include life and cancer insurance and a deferred compensation plan.
