Teen Read Week 2013

Celebrate Teen Read Week October 13-19 with your library! Teen Read Week is a national initiative from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) with special events and programs aimed at encouraging teens around the area to read for the fun of it. The theme for 2013 is Seek the Unknown @ your library and we have great events planned for teens.

Meet author Ben Mikaelson- Wednesday, October 16

touchingSee the author of the gritty survival book Touching Spirit Bear. Ben lives in a log cabin near Bozeman, Montana, with a 750 pound black bear that he adopted and has raised for the last twenty five years. Hear his fascinating story and ask him questions about his books.

10:00-11:00 pm and 1:00-2:00 pm at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library


I Survived the Wilderness– Thursday, October 17, 3:30-4:30 pm

Find out if you have what it takes to hack it alone in the wild. We’ll hone your skills in this fast-paced role playing game in which two teams face off in a fight for survival.

Books & Bites- Friday, October 18, 3:30-4:30 pm

smores bitesSatisfy your appetite for good books by browsing the nominations and winners of the Teens’ Top Ten, a “teen choice” list nominated by teens around the country.
