British singer Charli XCX has had a stellar year. In April, Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea worked together on Fancy. It hit the number one spot and became both artists’ first number one single on the chart. In May 2014, she contributed Boom Clap for the soundtrack to The Fault in Our Stars


Tiesto is one of the leaders in the electronic dance music world and his next single is a hot one.  Wasted features Matthew Koma known for his vocals in the songs Spectum and Find You by Zedd. The video is super catchy and fun.


Chandelier by Sia is from her sixth album.  Sia is an Australian artist. Chandelier features electronica and reggae influences. The song has a sad theme about the glitter and fatigue of a party girl’s life. The video features eleven year old dancer, Maddie Ziegler. Lorde’s third single Tennis Court is a unique, rich, hip hop and EDM-influenced art pop song. Lorde has had much success with her first two singles Royals and Team. Tennis Court is sure to follow suit. The lyrics deal with her newfound fame and criticizes the high life.


Girls Chase Boys is the first single off Ingrid Michaelson’s brand new album Lights Out. The song started out being a break up song but changed into something much deeper. It turned into a statement about who we love and how we love them. The video turns gender stereotypes upside down while at the same time plays homage to 1988 video by Robert Palmer, Simply Irresistible. Make sure to watch both videos.

I work in the kids library with all ages, but especially with teens. I enjoy spending time with my two teenage kids and I love to cook for people. I also love animals and would have many more if I could. Ask me for recommendations of Young Adult realistic fiction - my favorite genre.
