Troll in a Cave Puppet

While climbing a mountain, you never know if you might encounter a troll living in a cave.

Supplies

  • Copy of the troll puppet template
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard from cereal, crackers or other thin box
  • Plastic or paper cup
  • Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
  • Aluminum foil
  • Glue
  • Chenille stem or straw
  • Tape

Step 1

Step 1

Color and cut out the troll puppet template. Glue your troll to a piece of cardboard. Set it aside to dry.

Step 2

Step 2

Poke a hole in the bottom of the cup. Make sure your chenille stem/straw will slide in and out of the hole.

Step 3

Step 3

Place the cup on top of a sheet of aluminum foil, make sure the aluminum foil is larger than the cup. Line the cup slightly above the bottom edge of the aluminum foil. There should be extra aluminum foil at the top of the cup – you will need the extra foil for Step 5.

Step 4

Step 4

Pinch the aluminum foil together around the sides and bottom of the cup. Do not cover the hole at the bottom of your cup, you will need this to stay open so your troll move in its cave.

Step  5

Step 5a & 5b

Roll and shape the extra aluminum foil at top of the cup. Shape the top to look like rocks at a cave entrance. Your cave is now ready for its troll.

Step 6

Step 6

When the glue is dry, it’s time to cut out your troll. Carefully cut around the edge of your troll on the cardboard.

Step 7

Step 7

Tape the back of the troll to the end of chenille stem/straw.

Step 8

Step 8a & 8b

Insert end of the chenille stems/straw into the hole at the bottom inside the cup.  Your troll will pop in and out out your cave by sliding the end of the stick.
