Preschool Storytime: Never Too Little To Love

Welcome to preschool storytime with Miss Rhonda and Boomer. Today we are reading Never Too Little to Love by Jeanne Willis.

Kindergarten Readiness Tip

Look for stories with lines that repeat and encourage your child to join in on these parts. The There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly series, The House That Jack Built, and Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed are great books with repeating phrases. Read through the story once together and then ask your child to jump in and read along with you as you point word by word. Books with repetitive words and phrases or predictable text and rhymes allow children to participate in the reading experience immediately.

Expand the Story!

I love this idea from CreativeConnectionsForKids.com. Have your children recreate and retell the story by building a structure for the small critter to climb to reach the tall one.

Meet the author!

I always enjoy seeing what authors look and sound like.  Here is Jeanne Willis the author of the book I read today, reading a VERY funny book she wrote called Don’t Go There!

I am an Outreach Preschool Storyteller at the library. I'm usually out and about, visiting preschools and daycares in our community. It's the perfect job for a retired kindergarten teacher! I know what preschoolers need to be ready for school and I love sharing picture books, rhymes and fun music. It's a win for us both!
