Preschool Storytime: My Rainy Day Rocket Ship

Hi friends! We’re so glad to see you here at Storytime with Miss Theresa. Today’s book is all about using your imagination. My Rainy Day Rocket Ship is written by Markelle Sheppard and illustrated by Charly Palmer.

Kindergarten Readiness Tip

Pretend play is an important part of child development. Children develop creativity from  playing. It’s about thinking, exploring, discovering and imagining. Pretending can help build math, science and language skills. It’s also a way to practice social skills, try out adult roles and work out anxiety and fears in a safe place. Explore these great imagination building activities for your child.

More Fun

Use your imagination as you sing along with this fun video from Songs For Littles written and sung by Jules.

Make an origami flying rocket ship! (Parents, you will do most of the folding, but this is so much fun to play with!)

I have worked with preschool children for more than 30 years, both as a teacher and as an Outreach Storyteller. I like to cook, tend to my vegetable garden, and make jam and pickles in my spare time. I love cats! If you want a great picture book, I'm happy to help you out.
