If you had a friend with a terrible injury like Chet’s would you know what to do? Watch this video to learn how to stop severe bleeding:
Do you have first aid materials gathered together where everyone in your home can find them? You might have everything at home except for the tourniquet, which is something you should get training to use. Put them in a clearly labeled container like a food storage container or a pencil bag. Here is an example of the materials you need for a basic kit to stop bleeding:
- permanent marker
- pair of disposable gloves
- tourniquet
- package of sterile gauze pads
- scissors
- 2 rolls of sterile gauze dressing
Remember to call 911 first in an emergency! Find more information at Stop the Bleed and Healthline.
