No Smoking at the Library Begins Today

TSCPL No Smoking Map
The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is now a tobacco free campus.  The policy change became effective after action taken by the Board of Trustees during its July 18 meeting. The change takes effect immediately. The library personnel will act in educational mode with the public for some time to inform people of the changes in the Customer Conduct Policy. Signage will also communicate the change, which previously permitted smoking 20-feet from the entrance. Smoking in personal vehicles and the perimeter sidewalks are exempt from the ban. Please refer to the map to identify areas where tobacco use is not permitted.

Diana is the communications & marketing director. A seasoned professional, she has been telling stories in print, digital, video and live broadcast formats for three decades.

  1. Thank you for doing this! Just as those that wish to smoke have a right to do so, those of us that don’t also have the right to breathe clean air.
