Slow Cookers Rock!

Have you ever wanted to come home at the end of a long day and walk into your house to smell a wonderful aroma because dinner was already cooked? I know that I have and that's where my slow cooker comes into play. I had never realized how much a slow cooker could make my life easier until I finally tried using one. There are so many recipes out there that are what I like to call "dump & go" recipes. They are that simple. You dump all the ingredients into the slow cooker, turn it on, and go about your day. One of the beautiful things about a slow cooker is that I don't have to turn my oven on when it's hot outside, like it is during the summer. Where would I start to look for recipes, you may ask? Visit your friendly library Cooking Neighborhood! You would be amazed at the number of slow cooker cookbooks that your library has. I'm going to share with you a few of my favorites.

Fit-it and Forget-it Cookbook: 700 Great Slow Cooker Recipes; by Phyllis Pellman Good

Fix IT and Forget It cookbook  This book is my number 1, go-to cookbook for slow cooker recipes. This cookbook has a wide variety of recipes, including one of my favorite slow cooker recipes of all time: Scalloped potatoes and ham. This is a recipe where you have to chop up some ham, slice up some potatoes, chop a little onion, put it all in your slow cooker, throw in a mixture that makes that amazing scalloped potato flavor that we all love, and turn it on for a few hours. That's all it takes. If you haven't tried it, you should.

Taste of homeThis cookbook is done by the people from the Taste of Home magazine. These recipes are ones that you may have seen in their magazine, but they are all bundled together in a book that you can have for years into the future. This cookbook has over 400 recipes that are broken down by categories such as Beef, Pork, Poultry, side dishes, and more. I have made more Taste of Home recipes than I can count and have rarely been disappointed.

The $7 a Meal Slow Cooker Cookbook: 301 Inexpensive Meals The While Family Will Love!; by Linda Larsen

$7 a mealHow many times have you looked at your grocery bill and wished that you could make it smaller? This cookbook helps with that. The meals in this cookbook are meals that can be thrown together in a jiffy, but don't have to break your bank to do it. I don't know about you, but that sounds really good to me!
