A Pinch of This and a Dash of That

Content

My family loves to cook. We don’t have many "special" recipes but there are a few. I'm planning on making a cookbook one day for future generations. To learn how to preserve your edible delights check out this webinar sponsored by the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) a division of the American Library Association. This webinar is part of several free programs available for Preservation Week 2018.

The webinar isn’t very long, just under an hour, but it's packed full of information like:

  • How to care for family recipe books and sheets, as well as other kitchen artifacts
  • Techniques for translating sketchy, illegible or unwritten food traditions into usable information
  • How to interpret family recipes from a historical perspective
  • A toolkit for working effectively with these family heirlooms

If reading is more your thing, check out webinar presenter Valerie J Frey’s book Preserving Family Recipes: How to Save and Celebrate Your Food Traditions. Our Cooking Neighborhood also has lots of new retro style cookbooks available for checkout.
